No Nike Deal for Vick

Michael Vick is in deep doggy doo-doo with his endorsement partners for his alleged role in a dogfighting ring. The Atlanta Falcons quarterback has been suspended from big money contracts with Nike, Reebok and a trading card company, thanks to a federal dogfighting indictment against him.

This week, Nike suspended Vick without pay, and released a statement that "Nike is concerned by the serious and highly disturbing allegations made against Michael Vick, and we consider any cruelty to animals inhumane and abhorrent." The company vowed to stop selling Vick-related products but chose not to terminate his contact until his case was filed. Due process of puppy law!

Reebok opted to stop selling Vick's Falcons jersey, as has the NFL, which has suspended sales of Vick's number 7 jersey on nflshop.com. And the Donruss trading card company has pulled Vick's card from new packs.

76. Vick is nothing more than a low life thug out of the gutter. In his mind he can do anything he wants, whenever he wants, because everybody will fall all over themselves to kiss his sorry ass, cleaning up his mess just because he can run after a football. Big frickin deal. Stupid as hell. He needs to be hit hard in the pocketbook, which is the only thing somebody like him understands. What a total waste of space. LOSER!!

You critized the Warden because he/she made a point about abortion and his/her point it's very valid. All of you are frantic because of the cruelty to dogs, but must of you will said nothing about the cruelty to unborn babies. Before you throw stones at Michael Vit (which is propably guilty) why don't you search your soul regarding your indiference towards the misery and cruelty of abortion?

But of course, you will never do that. It's not "politicaly cool".

83. He isn't anything but a dictator and ruthless beast himself. Three months ago, suspicions of dogfighting on Falcons' quarterback Michael Vick's Virginia property came to light, along with chilling descriptions of the fighters hanging, electrocuting, shooting and slamming to death dogs who didn't show the desired drive to fight. They also groom and breed 'pitbull dogs' to be killer guards for drug dealers and gang members. The pit is for fighting ring they kill in folks. Put him in jail and throw away the key.. And pay enormonus fines to rehabilitate and set up a foundation to stop this kind of activity.. triple taxed for the income he made and didn't disclose, names of people involved, make him a prime example for Cruelty to humanity, because not only dogs suffer, but the innocent are intimidated and cowled by the hunter/beasts they raise to terrorize whom they will and keep their illegal trade going. That goes for ANY illegal animal fighting.

84. Its funny how its ok to have Chinese workers make Nike shoes in inhumane conditions, but wont tolerate pitbul fights.

85. Interesting to see his Mother up there outside of court with Vick's lawyer. Where was her dumb ass in all of this? He originally built that house where this dog fighting occurred for her, but she said it was too far out in the country for her, and than he lets his cousins live there. You're telling me that a Mother whose house this was going to be in the first place, has no clue or idea of what sonny boy than used the house for?

Than him including her in the apology statement read by Billy Martin his lawyer----seems to me she had to know that her world famous son had a hobby that included owning over 60 dogs. I say she looked the other way as long as sonny boy was building houses for every family member he could.

Vicks the criminal here if guilty, but shes just as guilty for letting it happen and looking the other way all these years. She probably believed the same BS we all did about this supposed "superstar", that he had the midas touch, everything he touched turned into Gold. She should have been more of a Mother and reigned this guy in when he started veering off course, as he obviously is clueless when it comes to what is right and wrong in the ways of the world.

Going forward, innocent or guilty Vick wont be able to show his face anywhere without an onslaught of the kind he heard outside those Courtroom steps when making his first public appearance.

No Team, no city, no sponsor, no neighborhood is going to welcome his connected with dog fighting ass anywhere in this Country ever again. So if found guilty and he comes home from jail, he can go back to being who he really is anyway, a street thug who needs to prove himself with dogs killing one another.

What a fall from Grace for this young man. It will be forever burned in the minds and memories of all connected to Sports now and forever as an example of badness to the core. Maybe it can serve as a turning point, not just in Sports but in Society as a whole. There will be no comeback for this man, maybe in Canada or Europe for playing Football, but I doubt it. The NFL wont touch him with a 10 foot pole...They cant, not after Nike and Reebok dropped his ass...Corporate America has spoken, and in the end that is all the NFL truly cares about, Corporate Americas almighty dollar.

I would hope Vick starts receiving counseling from a Professional as he is a strong candidate for Suicide Solution with this kind of Fall from it All.

86. To #27 -ZZYZK-
You must be kidding...You said : " a woman has a choice to get an abortion. What choice or rights do the dogs have"?

Exactly. Dogs do not have a choice. Neither the unborn babies.
If you think a women have a right to kill, so does Mr. Vick.

Or maybe in your bizarre world a dog's life it's more important.

87. Vick is innocent until PROVEN guilty. What else needs to be said about him?

Animal cruelty is a terrible thing, but there are far more important issues to be concerned about than dogfighting. I don't see a public outcry being raised over the number of kids that die from neglect in this country or a public outcry over the number of kids that go to bed hungry at night.

Dogfights to the death are horrendous, yes, but I am more concerned about the inhumane treatment of PEOPLE in this world. We should be concerned about animals, of course, but I would would hope that people would be just as outraged when a child dies from abuse in this country. Just imagine over 1400 child-size caskets lined up in rows - that's how many kids die from neglect and abuse in this country every year.

And we're on a board debating dogfights. Something is very, very wrong...

88. I got called to jury one time. The man on trial was accused of selling drugs to children. Once I had heard that - my mind was already made up - he was guilty. When questioned by the judge, I told him exactly that. He told me that wasn't the way the legal system worked. As a mother of 2 small children, I told him I knew that. However, in certain cases - my situation and now the Vick debacle, it's guilty until proven innocent. Some acts just hit to the core of common decency -

You said I'm dum as a rock. Why are you insulting me because I raise a very valid question? You may throw all the stones you want towards this guy but I advice you to look into your soul regarding abortion. That's all.

I find amazing that you all get hysterical about dogs cruelty and don't even want to touch the subject of the cruelty to the unborn babies.

And if you don't think an abortion it's cruel to the unborn, check the facts......Have a nice day.
