No Nike Deal for Vick

Michael Vick is in deep doggy doo-doo with his endorsement partners for his alleged role in a dogfighting ring. The Atlanta Falcons quarterback has been suspended from big money contracts with Nike, Reebok and a trading card company, thanks to a federal dogfighting indictment against him.

This week, Nike suspended Vick without pay, and released a statement that "Nike is concerned by the serious and highly disturbing allegations made against Michael Vick, and we consider any cruelty to animals inhumane and abhorrent." The company vowed to stop selling Vick-related products but chose not to terminate his contact until his case was filed. Due process of puppy law!

Reebok opted to stop selling Vick's Falcons jersey, as has the NFL, which has suspended sales of Vick's number 7 jersey on nflshop.com. And the Donruss trading card company has pulled Vick's card from new packs.

16. wow nike is such a hypocrite. they don't support cruelty to dogs but they support cruelty to kids in 3rd world countries that make their products. So basically they are going to fix this vick problem by pulling him but cant fix their terrible history violating child labor laws. they only care about profits and not dogs. i think the stores need to pull all nike material untill they treat kids better.

17. To The Warden:

This isn't about abortion. It's about the appalling, disgusting inhumane reality of dog fighting.

19. Don't tell me he didn't know what was going on on his OWN property. I hope he gets kicked out of the NFL and does jail time. Then make him work in an animal shelter. He is disgusting and the lowest of humankind. No decent person will watch him play football again.

20. If he is found guilty - he should be punished, but if not, does the rule "innocent until proven guilty" not rule anymore??

21. Vick needs to be banned from football for life. Make an example out of this thug.

22. Vick's problems with the law have been "swept under a rug" since his days at Virginia Tech. He was never squeaky clean to begin with...

That' being said, I'm glad to hear that Nike and Reebok are taking some steps to distance themselves from him as this gets sorted out. I live in Northen VA and this whole investigation has been in the news for several months now.

Everyone makes mistakes, sure, but when you put yourself in the public eye, you have to expect that "all eyes" will be on you. And most people's mistakes don't involve such sadistic behavior.

25. Vick is a straight up idiot.....the FBI has a witness who w/testify that Vick was a high roller at these fights & even brought dogs w/him from Atlanta....pleading not guilty w/just cost him more money! He is nothing but a joke....costing the Falcons big time - he isn't even a good QB - should play the position of RB - but then he doesn't deserve to play in the NFL at all! Blame his parents - or lack of - his brother has serious issues too. They both have rocks for brains....all they want to be is thugs. How many young men would love to have the chance to play in the NFL? Poor dogs.......Vick w/get his one way or another.....what comes around goes around!

27. Why would you even choose abortion as an arguement?!? The woman has the choice to go to the doctor to get an abortion. What choice or rights do the dogs have? If only the dogs subjected to this torture would choose to rip it's owner to shreds.

28. isn't funny how we care more about dogs than actual people. when is the last time anyone has cared about women being raped, child molesters, etc. the nfl is a hypocrites they let people with more serioius charges play even after their trials. we are all hypocrites. as long as the people give us what we want then no problem when they don't turn against them. dog fighting has been going on for years. we didn't care until it became that a star might be involved. ask peta how many animals have they killed. alot. why aren't people getting on them? peta is a hypocrite. check their records.

29. Fabulous......this whole story make me sick to my stomach. Dogs are meant to be man's best friend, not put in a ring to kill each other.
