Britney isn't the first person to buy a dog from a pet-store, but her celebrity-status makes her an easy target here. She also has too much going on in her life right now to be worrying about a dog or a parakeet. Isn't she still living in a hotel right now anyway?

You are an idiot. Buying a dog IS a major life decision, even more so than a marriage, because dogs live an average of 10-15 years, and most marriages do not last that long. If you buy a dog, you should know that is is NOT a toy, or anything to be thrown away like garbage when you get sick of it. If you DO decide to get a dog, you should realize that it is like having a child, and if you are not able to care for it, you should not get it. Brit-Brit cannot even care for herself OR her children, let alone a dog, so she should be barred from buying animals (and adopting them as well...not that she ever would). If you have seen the pics of her carrying that poor thing, she carries it like it's a sack of potatoes, or a purse. She doesn't give a crap about it, it probably won't get it's shots, get wormed, be housetrained, or be taken care of in any way. Oh, and where are those Chihuahuas she had years ago? Well, according to K-Fed, they had to be given away because they were pooping all over the house, and HER CHILDREN WERE EATING THE POOP! Now, does that sound like the type of person that should have dogs, OR children? I grew up with Yorkies (and birds) and someone as irresponsible, self-absorbed, stupid, lazy, and useless as Britney should NOT have animals, PERIOD. EVER. I hope the Humane Society gets that dog, and the bird, and finds a loving home for them. I'd take them myself actually, since I am active in Boxer Rescue, and various bird rescues, and know how the process works. I am just thanking God that she did not get a Boxer....I would go insane thinking of the loving, sweet, needy, gentle, caring, and sensitive Boxer in that hellhole she calls a house. Thank God a Boxer cannot be carried like a purse, and is therefore of no interest to her. And her doing this just makes me more disgusted with her, since she is apparently a selfish, spoiled, vapid little brat that only cares about herself, not her kids, her animals, her family, or anything. I truly hope karma gets her, because she has caused a lot of misery to others, and she deserves some in return. She makes me absolutely sick to my stomach.

64. What kind of idiot would sell her a dog. She don't even take care of her kids. She will leave that dog all by itself and go out a get trashed. Just like she leaves her kids with friends, relatives and/or a nanny just to go out and party. She's an unfit mother and an unfit dog owner. Hey, what happended to the last dog she had? 65. I love that this passes for a news story! If I was famous, I would have been on your site a few months ago because I, too, bought a puppy from a puppy store, though I didn't quite pay that much.

I've never been someone who defends Britney's actions, but I don't see how you can judge her for this. Puppies from stores need homes just as much as the ones from shelters do. In fact, if no one buys them, they end up in shelters, where they are sometimes put down, just like all of the other dogs, if no one comes to adopt or claim them. Do I condone charging thousands for an animal? Not really, but stores want to make a profit on the hundreds they pay a breeder, and for that, I must just shrug and say: Capitalism is what this country is built on.

The idea of puppy mills still being used in a widespread fashion is a myth and nothing more. At least in the state of California, the store is required by law to provide any buyer with papers proving the dog's origins, and it is the responsibility of the buyer to follow up and ensure the papers are legit. If they find them not to be, it is their moral duty to report the store.

You guys seem to care more about this dog than her kids. Buying a dog is not a flippant activity, I will give you that; it is a life-changing decision, especially with a young puppy who needs to be fed multiple times a day, crated, potty trained, and obedience trained. But they are not any more work than children, and she seems to have dove head first into motherhood without much thought. Which is worse? At least you can leave a dog home alone for a few hours without it getting into too much trouble; you can't do that with babies.

66. This is 2007, people. No one should be buying puppies from pet stores. And, if you don't know why, please go google "puppy mill." Britney could have bought a well-bred purebred Yorkie from a responsible breeder for much less money.

67. It seems the only reason why she went and bought a yorkie puppy is because PH has been photoed with her yorkie pup. Brittany really does have some serious emotional problems right now! I was feeling a bit sorry for her but her purposely showing herself front and back with her legs wide open is definetly a sign of exibitionism and now I I am really concerned for her babies.She is not right in the head! DCYF and the SPCA needs to step in and check on the children and the poor little puppy,bird,and whatever else she has responsibility for on at least a weekly basis
